SUMMARY: Installs, maintains and repairs washing machines and dryers, various types of commercial dining facility refrigeration equipment and dispensers, broilers, grilles, ranges, ovens, dishwashers and related systems and equipment by performing the following duties. May provide supervision and coordinate activities of various mechanics of different trades who perform work on dining facility and laundry equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs and directs the performance by others of preventive maintenance (cleans, lubricates, checks operation) as well as unscheduled services on commercial laundry equipment (washers and dryers) and dining facility equipment (e.g., domestic and display case refrigerators; walk-in refrigerators and refrigerator/freezers with external condensers; walk-in and reach-in freezers; ice cream cabinets, freezers, and machines; cold food counters; ice making machines; fluid coolers; beverage dispensers; all other refrigerated units; cooking equipment [broilers; ovens; electric, gas and steam cookers; grilles; ranges; kettles; hoods and blowers; mixers; dishwashers; deep fat fryers; and all other dining facility appliances]). Obtains price quotations on materials and tests equipment to verify that equipment is functioning. Schedules equipment installation assignments. Examines installed equipment to verify that system is functioning. Compiles labor and material cost figures and supporting media for billing purposes. Attends classes and seminars on dining and laundry components and system design to update skills. Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Maintains time and production records. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments, including maintenance of utilities that supply the dining and laundry facilities (e.g., electrical, sewer, steam, natural gas, and water). Performs activities of workers supervised. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: Lead may provide general supervision during assigned shift Responsibilities may include: Training; assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; providing feedback to Manager on performance concerns, tardiness, absenteeism, etc. This position does not have the authority to dispense disciplinary actions, hire or terminate employees. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Two year HVAC or Electrical certificate from college or technical school; or five to seven years journeyman level HVAC or Electrical experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years experience with dining facility & laundry appliances required. CLEARANCES, CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING, ETC.: Valid driver's license and safe driving record. HVAC license/certification (Journeyman, Universal, CFC equivalent). Facility clearance including official background checks is required. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Ability to safely utilize, operate and maintain hand and power tools common to the trade. Knowledge of operation / installation of a variety of complete HVAC systems/equipment.
