| We are UPG Aquatics, one of the world's largest manufacturers of aquarium products with such brands as Tetra, Marineland and Instant Ocean, Jungle and Perfecto.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will work in conjunction with our Operations Engineer. This position will be responsible for assisting in the development, planning/coordination and implementation of Operations Engineering projects relevant to new products, machinery, equipment and processes. This position will be additionally responsible for assisting in the coordination and implementation of necessary revisions to existing manufacturing processes to accommodate new products and their manufacture as well as enhancing efficiencies of current processes. Additional projects as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinate timetables to develop, design, and implement projects as identified by the Operations team.
2. Responsible for the analysis of existing manufacturing lines and identifying areas for process improvement.
3. In conjunction with the Operations team prepare technical proposals including scheduling, budgeting, and Capital Equipment Requests.
4. Provide reports and analysis as required.
5. Develop written procedures for manufacturing process as required including new processes and one-time projects done by UPG or outside vendors.
6. Provides technical support to personnel and other functional departments impacted by projects as required.
7. Provide hands on technical expertise and direction to maintenance personnel with machine and process problems minimizing equipment downtime and optimizing process productivity.
8. Assist in layout of facility using AutoCAD. Design and coordinate floor plan changes for optimal space utilization and individual department needs and requests.
PRINCIPAL RELATIONSHIPS
1. Must maintain close contacts internally with all disciplines including manufacturing, maintenance, quality assurance, inventory planning, purchasing, engineering, and marketing.
2. Must have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, which are necessary to support fairly broad scope projects. Must have strong written and oral expression.
3. Must have the ability to work independently with little supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Working towards a BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related technical field.
2. The Operations Engineer should be able to learn:
a. UPG manufacturing processes and relevant products.
b. Detailed understanding of all UPG equipment and manufacturing procedures.
c. Time Study, Cost/Benefit evaluation and general knowledge of financial requirements (e.g. C.E.R.)
d. Quality Control procedures and measuring equipment.
3. Basic drafting skills.
4. Excellent communications skills.
5. PC skills(Excel, Access, Word). |
