| Job Description Provide server support for a large multi-platform Sun environment. Responsibilities include maintaining standards for system architecture, data communications, and system security, as well as installation, configuration, maintenance, and administration of COTS and custom applications running on Solaris 10. A minimum five (5) years of practical experience with the Solaris OS is required. Also working knowledge supporting servers running Apache, Weblogic, Oracle, VERITAS, EMC SAN, and shell scripting is highly desirable. As needed, assist with installation, configuration, and evaluation of new technologies and their interaction with the existing hardware/software infrastructure. A firm understanding of networking principles, as well as adherence to established configuration control standards and policies a must. Additional functions include communicating with clients and vendors; review of daily logs; periodic written reports; and management of patches, upgrades and backups. Required Skills - Five (5) years minimum of technical experience
- Strong Solaris administration background, including use of Solaris 10
- Experience working with in a large complex server environment
- Experience with EMC SAN technologies, VERITAS Storage Foundation software, and VERITAS SFRAC software strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience with VERITAS clustering, Solaris Containers, Solaris Logical Domains, and ZFS file systems
- Experience working with Sun SPARC Enterprise hardware, including Sun T5120 and Sun M5000 class servers
- Experience with automated testing tools, especially HP LoadRunner, a plus
- Ability to analyze test results and prepare reports for customers
- Ability to analyze evaluation results and prepare reports that assist the customer during purchase decisions
- Good organizational, interpersonal, and analytic faculties
- Solid troubleshooting skills
- Team player who works well with customers and colleagues at all levels
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related analytical, scientific, or technical disciplines. An additional four (4) years of specialized experience may be substituted for formal education. |
